Effigy

Today, we will burn something better,
an effigy, of me, you and everybody.
For every politician, who turned the wheel wrong,
an effigy be burned for their never-ending greed.
For every fundamentalist, preaching goddamn wars,
an effigy be burned for their never-read shelves.
For every crony-capitalist, selling my air, water and sweat,
an effigy be burned for their Royce, resorts and profit.
For every glorified hero, calling bloody revolution,
an effigy be burned for the blood pools they’ve dug.
For every traditionalist, who killed originals,
an effigy be burned for their fondness of convention.
For every comfort-zone preacher, who blabbers instructions,
an effigy be burned for their hollowness of action.
For every ignorant youth, who gave no heck about politics,
an effigy be burned for their unparalleled uselessness.
Today, we will burn an effigy,
An effigy of me, you and everybody.
