International poetry Festival

Brief of International Poetry festival, KRITYA 2012

Kritya 2012 Dates-
16 to 18+19, 20,21 Jan 2012 will take place in Trivandrum, Kerala. This festival will be dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore, the great Indian poet. This time again, poetry painting, photo poetry, poetry films, and poetry puppetry will be part of the festival. As Kritya is an active member of the World Poetry Movement, NGO, Medillin, Colombia, we have a number of entries from different countries around the world for Kritya 2012. With the help of the selection committee of Kritya, we have finalized 25 names from around the world. We are inviting at least 25 Indian poets and there will be special sessions for Malayalam Poetry. Painting will be part of poetry festival and there will also a number of poetry films to be organize.


Festival Director: Dr. Rati Saxena i
s a poet, Translator, editor and Director poetry festival-kritya. She Is specialized in the study of the Vedas, especially the Atharva Veda, and secured a Ph.D. Degree in Sanskrit from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. She has published two collections of poetry in English, one in Malayalam (translated), four collections of her own poems in Hindi and also one bilingual. her a critical work in Hindi on the renowned Malayalam poet Balamani Amma. Her poems have been translated into most of the non-Indian languages like Chinese, Spanish, Italian and Persian etc. also. One of her poetry collection has been published in Italian and another in Uzbeck language is under publication. Her work on the Atharvaveda has been published as *The Seeds of the Mind--* a fresh approach to the study of Atharvaveda, under the fellowship of the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts. She has translated about 12 Malayalam works, both prose and poetry, into Hindi and one from Norwegian poetry. A Norwegian film maker Odveig Klyve has made five poetry films on her poems and shown to different poetry festivals, around the world, Her a number are poems are taken for photo poetry project by Geopoeticon from Norway she has participated in several international poetry festivals. She has published articles in a number of journals. She secured the Kendriya Sahitya Akedemy award for translation for the year 2000. She is Chief Editor of a bilingual web journal for poetry - and managing trustee of a literary foundation called Kritya, under which she organized 6 poetry festivals (four international and two national). She has been invited for poetry reading in prestigious poetry festivals "PoesiaPresente" in Monza (Italy), Mediterranea Festival and International House of Stavanger ( Norway) , Struga Poetry Evening , Macedonia and '3rd hofleiner donauweiten poesiefestival 2010, Vienna and Famous Poetry festival in  Medellin Colombia. She is Founder member and representative from Asia for World Poetry Movement .

Dr.Jayasree Ramakrishnan Nair -
Freelance editor and translator. Senior Associate Editor, Samyukta - A Journal of Women's Studies. Working as Senior Editor at Oregon Technologies, Pravachambalam, Thiruvananthapuram. She has co-ordinated a project on Women and Health, focusing on the physical and mental health of women and published the findings in 'Engendering Health - A Brief History of Women's Involvement in Health Issues' - written in collaboration with Dr. Hema R. Nair. Apart from translations, her creative pursuits include writing poetry and painting. She has translated four plays of Shakespeare into Malayalam, which were published by D.C.Books, Kottayam, 2000. The short stories she translated has appeared in Samakalika Bharathiya Cherukathakal-Malayalam translation of Contemporary Indian Short Stories Vols. 1 & 2 (New Delhi:Sahitya Akademi, 1995). She has also translated and published Walt Whitman's poems into Malayalam. Areas of interest are Translation Studies, Folklore Studies, Shakespeare Studies and Women's Studies.

Zingonia Zingone (Italy).
Poet, novelist and translator, writes in Italian and Spanish. Brought up between Italy and Costa Rica, graduated in Economics, worked in banking and agriculture in Italy and Central America. Currently lives in Rome. Poetry editions in Spanish: Mascara del delirio (Ediciones Perro Azul, 2006), Cosmo-agonia (Ediciones Perro Azul, 2007), Tana Katana (Ediciones Perro Azul, 2009). Poetry edition Italian/Spanish Maschera del delirio (Lietocolle, 2008). Novel edited in Italian: Il velo (Elephanta Press, 2000). Her poems have been translated into English, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and Chinese. They have been published in numerous literary magazines and thematic anthologies. Since 2007 she has participated in International Poetry Festivals in Latin America, Italy and Asia.

Anna Lombardo, (Italy).
Poet, teacher, translator and editor of the cultural magazine Le Voci della Luna, lives in Venice, where she graduated in English literature. She is currently doing her PhD at the Trinity College in Dublin (Ireland) in Gender Studies. Peter Waugh -
Born in Barnet, lives in Vienna since 1981, where he works as a freelance translator and English teacher. Co-founder of Labyrinth and co-editor of Subdream, the Vienna Journal of English Language Poetry, and publisher of Labyrinth poetry books. Has organized and participated in numerous readings in Vienna and Austria, including appearances with the groups Dunkler Sand and the Karl Sayer Jazz Sextet and the Erste Wiener Lesetheater.

former Secretary of the Sahitya Akademi (the National Academy of Letters, India), is an internationally recognized poet, critic, translator and editor. He has received 21 awards at regional, national and international levels.

Gabriel Rosenstock
is the author/translator of over 150 books., mostly in Irish (Gaelic) He taught haiku at the Schule fur Dichtung (Poetry Academy) in Vienna. Among his awards is the Tamgha I Kidmat medal for services to literature.
He has translated into Irish, among others, Francisco X. Alarcon, Seamus Heaney, Rabindranath Tagore, Gunter Grass, W M Roggeman, Said, Zhāng Ye, Michele Ranchetti, Michael Augustin, Peter Huchel, Georg Trakl, Georg Heym, Hansjörg. K. G. Balakrishna Pillai 
is a Gandhian cultural and educational activist, writer, translator and journalist. Actively associated with Gandhian thoughts especially with regards to illiteracy eradication and propagation of Hindi at national and international level .An author of several articles, features and books and booklets in Malayalam and also in Hindi /English. He has edited a literary journal in Hindi -Keraljyothi for about 30 years. He has severed in several Hindi advisory committees of government of India.



Thomas Mathew 
is the technical adviser to Kritya. An engineer by profession, he is an expert in the I.T and I.T . Enabled Services. His professional responsibilities include managing three Software companies (Sanmath Technologies-Software Development, Righters-Support Systems and Solutions for Health care, Atticlabs-web based software applications development), Technical Consultant to I.T and I.T.E.S companies( Redwebsolutions,U.K, Insoft Websolutions, Quicktrans Solutions, Finesse technologies). He is one of the directors of CRUST (Centre for Rural and Urban Studies and Training), an NGO closely associated with central and state government projects, dedicated to the utilization and spread of IT services including GIS (Geographical Information Systems) in the rural and urban developments.
